FEDERICA RAVIZZA (Italy)

Federica Ravizza was born in Gallarte, a small town not far from Milan, Italy, in 1947. She began her art studies under the tutorship of Professor Bassini in Milan. In 1964 she made her first public debut with an exhibition in Milan. She also studied at the Storia del Arte under the guidance of Professor Zametti.

Probably Professor Luciano Corberi of the International University of Art, Venice, has best described her romantic artistry:

“In Mrs. Ravizza’s paintings, I admire first of all her skill and impressive quality which enables her to paint with a perfect harmony between ideas and technique. I then appreciate her ability to color, to sketch and compose her works with a remarkable equilibrium between craft and pictorial instinct. There is a presence of a classical education, not a superficial culture which deals only with the latest fashions or news, but a culture drawn from the study of European literature and from first-hand knowledge of the ancient Venetian painters.”

The artist looks back with a preference to the past, with a tinge of melancholy. The subjects of Ravizza’s paintings seem timeless. Her subject matter seems set in a mythical and deceptive time which reminds one of the Golden Age. The balance of grace and technique, the mysterious and slightly smiling faces she portrays are reminiscent of the Enlightened Eighteenth Century.

The artist’s works are included in the permanent collections of most of the foremost museums of Europe. Her clientele includes many noted private collectors both in Europe and in the United States. One of her most fervent admirers (and collectors) is the actor Roger Moore.
